With the handover of Termál square in Bükfürdő, one of Hungary’s largest landscape architecture developments was completed, and the city’s residents and the new centre was open to residents and visitors at the beginning of the summer.
A green park, a promenade, a fountain, a visitor centre and a café await visitors to the area, which has been transformed into a new town centre by the municipality of Bük. Thanks to the HUF 2.8 billion investment, Bükfürdő could become a 21st century health resort, the general construction of which was the responsibility of HOMLOK Zrt.
According to the municipality, the investment also has a direct economic revitalizing effect, as the square will also function as a festival centre and will also provide space for the producer’s market, where local and regional businesses, craftsmen and artisans will be able to present their products.
As well as the visitor centre, the 15-metre-high lookout also contributes to the tourist attractions of Bükk and Bükfürdő, with its drilling rig-like shape that draws attention to itself, as they originally found the healing water that made the town famous while searching for oil.
The landscaping and paving were a major task, with paving stones specially manufactured for this project. The almost 15,000 square metre park area is equipped with information panels to help visitors find their way around, various visual elements to enhance the space, as well as completely renewed street lighting and a CCTV system.
Within the frame of the GINOP-7.1.3-15-2016-00001 project “Bükfürdő – A Spa Experience”, event venues, a park, parking lots and a visitor centre were also established. The project was carried out by Homlok Zrt. for a total of HUF 2.8 billion, with the involvement of specialist subcontractors.
